Proof & Result
We tested this. Here's what happened
Proof, not promises
Keeping fish fresh, tested for real.
We took fresh rainbow trout and split it in two: half went on ice made with Karmic's chitosan, half on regular ice. Same fish, same fridge, side by side. Then, we checked both every few days for over two weeks.
+0 days
shelf life
Extra days of shelf life the treated fish gained over regular ice.
0%
bacteria reduction
Drop in total bacteria count on the treated fish by day 8.
- pH stayed steady on the treated fish — no meaningful change versus the untreated fish, a sign the fish stayed stable and safe.
- Testers rated the treated fish better than the untreated fish on texture, odor, and color — every time they checked.
- Testers rated the treated fish "Good" at day 8. The untreated fish was already rated "Not fresh."
- Even at day 15 — two weeks in — the treated fish was still holding up better than untreated fish does after only a few days.
Our conclusion: 8+ days of extra shelf life is achievable today, with no downside on pH and better texture, smell, and color the whole way through — and results point toward further gains as we keep fine-tuning.
Stronger crops, longer-lasting food.
We've run CropXtend in the field on more than 20 different fruits and vegetables. Here are three examples that show the same pattern we see again and again: healthier plants, bigger harvests, and food that lasts longer on the shelf.
+0%
strawberries
More strawberries per plant — and their natural antioxidants nearly doubled.
0.5%
tomatoes
Weight lost in storage, down from 12.6% — plus up to 42% more tomatoes per plant.
0
potatoes
Days potatoes stayed good - most start rotting within weeks.
That's over 5 months.
We've trialed CropXtend across 20+ crops, from grapes to mangoes to asparagus.
| Crop | Shelf life | Yield / weight | Other effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strawberry | ~10 days, strong freshness retention | +42% yield | Antioxidant activity nearly doubled |
| Tomato | ~21 days; weight loss 12.6% → 4.5% | +25–42% yield | Better firmness, fruit size, nutrient uptake |
| Potato | Up to 170 days; 15–26% less weight loss | +25–35% yield | Dry rot and blight suppressed |
| Citrus | >25 days; ~40% less decay | +18–25% yield | Blocked Penicillium (blue/green mold) |
| Apple | ~3–4 weeks; 40–60% less weight loss | +14–25% yield | Less bitter rot and blue mold; slower browning |
| Grape | ~7 weeks, low visible damage | +18–25% yield | More antioxidants, delayed ripening |
| Mango | 3–7 days, moderate weight-loss reduction | +20–30% yield | Kept aroma and vitamin C |
| Peach | ~2 weeks; 45–65% less weight loss | +15–25% yield | Better color and texture retention |
| Avocado | 12 days, tracked through storage | +12–20% yield | Delayed ripening, better firmness |
| Banana | 12–24 days, reduced vs. untreated | No pre-harvest data | Slower ripening, better appearance |
| Pineapple | 15 days; ~40% less weight loss | +10–15% yield | Less rot, better fruit quality |
| Pomegranate | Up to 28 days (coating: +~16 days) | No pre-harvest data | Preserved sensory and chemical quality |
| Cherry (sweet) | Several weeks, better water retention | +14–25% yield | Higher polyphenols and antioxidants |
| Blueberry | ~14 days | No data in sheet | Inhibited yeast and mold |
| Blackberry | 3–5 weeks | No data in sheet | Delayed mold growth |
| Apricot | 9–30 days; ~50% less weight loss | No data in sheet | Delayed fungal decay |
| Kiwi | Improved firmness and shelf life | +22–28% yield | Increased fruit weight and firmness |
| Eggplant | 6–8 days; ~50% less weight loss | +10–15% yield | Slowed browning, retained nutrients |
| Cucumber | Not in sheet | +18–25% yield | Better photosynthesis, fruit size |
| Chili | Not in sheet | +20–30% yield | More plant vigor and fruit yield |
| Asparagus | Few days to a week longer | Not in sheet | Slowed senescence and color loss |
| Dates | Several weeks, significantly reduced loss | +15–20% yield | Improved antioxidant activity |
Packaging test results — coming end of 2026.
We're finishing lab testing on FreshXtend Active Packaging — the trays and lidding film. Real results will be added here as soon as the data's in. We'd rather wait and tell you the truth than guess.
