Karmic Founder Kristin Veriga Shortlisted for The Future of Our Planet ESEY Award

October 21, 2026

Karmic Global Biotech founder Kristin Veriga has been shortlisted for The Future of Our Planet category of the 2026 Investec Early-Stage Entrepreneur of the Year (ESEY) Awards, recognising founders developing innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Organised by OPUS, the ESEY Awards celebrate early-stage entrepreneurs shaping the future across ten categories. The Future of Our Planet category focuses on innovation in climate, energy, food, water and the circular economy.

At Karmic, that mission starts with a simple idea: the food system can produce more value by wasting less.

By transforming discarded shrimp shells into high-value chitosan-based technologies, Karmic is developing solutions that help preserve food, reduce spoilage and support more sustainable agriculture. It’s an approach built around circularity — turning what was once waste into a resource that can help protect the food we already produce.
